The Tempered Opportunity of Inconvenience

The Tempered Opportunity of Inconvenience

The mountain need shake only once to loose the avalanche.

Revelation has a habit of arriving while hands are deep in the ordinary—carrying the groceries, scrubbing the pot, sanding the edge of a board. Ideas barge in, new theories demand attention; not tomorrow, not when the desk is clean, not when the correct notebook lies open. Now.

Perhaps an annoyance, it is not cruelty.

Living fully as human is to be always slightly interrupted—by memory, by mystery, by the voice that cannot be ignored. Pulling form from nothing, the system of all things whispers the immaterial into shape. Structure rises from felled trees and hammer strikes. The cold of the trek is charmed away by the heat of the hearth.

While one is wholly immersed in being human—body working, mind focused, spirit wandering—a new intrigue arrives: silent moonlight filters through the window pane, and rests on the secrets once buried in brushstrokes, entwining sentiments long lost into song.

Distraction, or guide?

Fire-warmed woodgrain shows the shape of another path. This is the rhythm: the mundane and the mythic are inseparable. The mess and glimmer coexist. Embodiment and epiphany braid together; one foot leaves a print in the snow, the other steps effortlessly on liminal ground.

In observation, one learns that enlightenment is not elsewhere, waiting in perfect silence. It is here, already crossing the threshold, the stilled mountain beneath the crashing snow.

Interruptions are invitations.

A holy shimmer may rise when disparate elements dare to merge; for divine keys could be hiding in the inconsiderate freedom of curiosity.
